Lemosho Route 7–8 Days

  • Starts on the western slope of Kilimanjaro.
  • Offers stunning scenery rainforest, plateau, alpine desert with moderate foot traffic.
  • Excellent for acclimatization and photography; one of the highest summit success rates.

Machame Route 6–7 Days

  • Approaches from the southwest also known as the “Whiskey Route.”
  • Gorgeous variety of landscapes and solid acclimatization profile.
  • Popular and reliable, ideal for hikers seeking a balance between challenge and scenery.

Rongai Route 6–7 Days

  • The only route ascending from the north.
  • Quieter, drier, and less crowded; you may spot wild elephants and buffalo en route.
  • Preferred during rainy seasons and ideal for serene trekkers

Northern Circuit Route-9 Days

  • The longest route, circling around the north side of the mountain.
  • Superb acclimatization, panoramic views of all mountain faces, and minimal crowds.
  • Perfect for adventurous hikers who want the most immersive Kilimanjaro experience.

Marangu Route 5–6 Days

  • Known as the “Coca‑Cola Route,” with hut accommodations instead of tents.
  • Easiest gradient, but heavily trafficked and less scenic.
  • A practical choice for solo travelers or those looking for hut stays.

 

Umbwe Route 6–7 Days

  • The steepest and most direct route—very challenging.
  • Shortest in distance, extremely remote with very few climbers.
  • Recommended only for experienced, highly fit trekkers.
